It's amazing the difference a little song can make.   From making changing diapers a breeze to calming everyone down in the car, music is your friend.

Your household musical environment can make a big difference in your child's behavior and sleep habits.

Very young babies love

  • Your voice
  • Repetitive chime-like ditties.

If there is one song that you sing regularly when they go to bed this makes nap time go much quicker.  The soothing sound of a well-known song (no matter how off key you think you sound..) makes them go to sleep faster.

You may love the hard rock or pop/rap, but be assured that it will make your children aggressive.  Anything with a rhythmic bass/pop feeling increases the tension in a room, and you children's behavior is affected.

Kids in general love repetition.  They can listen to the same song over and over for hours on end and then ask you to play it one more time.

For some odd reason kids just LOVE Reggae.  I assume it's the steel drums, but the beat always gets them going too...

The classical music channel is a good bet, anything with alot of strings and woodwinds.

Even if you feel that you can't sing, your child won't mind or notice.   They love it when you sing, anything, anytime. These simple rhymes are  great for building comprehension and practicing things like the  alphabet and counting.
